Salem - Mission Mill Museum - Thomas Kay Woolen Mill |

The Thomas Kay Woolen Mill was founded in 1889 by Thomas Lister Kay. Water power was used to power the equipment and the original turbine still generates electricity for the museum. The mill operated for seventy years and was managed by four generations of the Kay family. During World War II the mill produced blankets for the United States Army. |
