Astoria - Flavel House |
||||
Captain George Flavel built this fine Queen Anne style home in Astoria, Oregon, in 1885. At the time, Captain Flavel was the principal resident pilot responsible for guiding ships across the dangerous bar at the mouth of the Columbia River. He invested in real estate and became a very wealthy and influential member of Astoria's pioneer society. The home is now owned and operated by the Clatsop County Historical Society and is open for public visitation. |
